The Pond’s 32 Most Anticipated Books of 2021 (January – June)

The Pond's 32 Most Anticipated Books of 2021 (January – June)

We can feel it in our bones: 2021 is going to be an amazing reading year.

The beginning of the year feels like such an exciting time. There are so many books to look forward to this year, so many of which we are excited to read and whether we end up liking it or not – well, the anticipation feels so good.

When we scoured through our spreadsheet, looking for books releasing in 2021 to feature in our The Pond’s Most Anticipated Books list, we were stumped. We had a hard time featuring a list-sensible number of books (my own list included over 30 books!) – there were just so many exciting books to look forward to! (In saying that, this list was incredibly difficult list to put together, and we are looking forward to many books not included in this list as well!)

Hello, lovely friends! I hope the year has been kind to you so far, that it has brought you new beginnings and warmth and excitement. Welcome to our little blanket fort of books to come!

Today, Sprout and I are delighted to talk to you about our five most anticipated reads for the year! It was really, really hard whittling this list down to just five books (how blessed we are this year to bear witness to so many incredible diverse releases, honestly!), but we tried our best! Most of this list is diverse fantasy, because we wouldn’t be us anymore if we weren’t forever-smitten with magic, but we also tried to pick different types of fantasy to diversify the selection pool a little. Here you’ll find golden blood and poisonous curses, haunted manors and bright-eyed witches.

Welcome back, friends! I hope you all have had a lovely week and that you are ready for my final post of The Pond’s Most Anticipated Reads series for 2019!

A goal of mine for 2019, and something that I’ve been meaning to do for a long time, is to do more to support self-published and indie books. As someone who was initially invested in mainstream books, I genuinely did not know that self-published books were a thing and I was naive to the challenges that all authors went through, especially authors who self-publish. I’ve had the pleasure of reading some spectacular self-published books in the past (shout out to Soft on Soft!), and I now know and strongly believe that self-published books and their authors deserve all the love and support.
